ICYMI: Texas State Representatives United in Support for Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher for Re-Election

Houston, TX—Over the past three weeks, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) has announced she earned the endorsements of State Representatives in Texas who represent portions of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District, now and in the future: Ann Johnson (HD-134), Jon Rosenthal (HD-135), Gene Wu (HD-137), Garnet Coleman (HD-147), and Hubert Vo (HD-149), demonstrating united support from leaders in the region.

“I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Fletcher in her run for re-election to Congress,” said Representative Ann Johnson. “She stands up and fights for us, and has shown time and time again that she can get things done. We need Congresswoman Fletcher in Congress to protect our health care, expand our local economy, and create opportunities for hardworking Texans.”

“I am proud to stand with Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher for Texas’ Seventh Congressional District,” said Representative Jon Rosenthal. “Her work to protect our energy assets, expand access to health care, and help us recover from the COVID-19 pandemic is the exact leadership we need more of in the Houston area. I endorse Congresswoman Fletcher and look forward to continuing to collaborate with her to build a stronger Texas.”

“I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher for re-election because, under her steady leadership, Texas’ Seventh Congressional District has never been in better hands,” said Representative Gene Wu. “I am grateful for her active collaboration on issues that matter to our region: infrastructure investments, health care, access to the ballot box, and more. Congresswoman Fletcher continues to deliver for the Houston-area, and I look forward to continuing to work with her on behalf of this community.”

“In Texas, where almost 5 million people lack health insurance, we need leaders working to bring real solutions to the problems we face. Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher has been a steadfast partner, fighting alongside me to provide Texans access to health care, and she delivers results,” said Representative Garnet Coleman. “She has been an incredible advocate for the people of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District and I am proud to endorse her for re-election.”

“Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher is a trusted partner who consistently puts the needs of our community first,” said Representative Hubert Vo. “She understands what it takes to protect and strengthen health care for millions of Texans, grow our economy, and create new jobs. I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Fletcher, whose proven track record has improved countless lives.”

“I am proud to earn the support and endorsement of these legislators, who so ably represent our community in the Texas Legislature, and I look forward to our continued partnership to deliver for Texas’ Seventh Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.

In addition to these State Representatives, Congresswoman Fletcher has earned the endorsements of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Fort Bend County Judge KP George, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, Harris County Commissioners Rodney Ellis and Adrian Garcia, Fort Bend County Commissioner Grady Prestage, EMILY’s List, Bold PAC, the Latino Labor Leadership Council, and other organizations for her 2022 re-election campaign, demonstrating the breadth of support for Congresswoman Fletcher and the continued diversity of the coalition she has built since her first campaign in 2018.

A second-term Member of Congress, Fletcher was first elected to represent Texas’ Seventh Congressional District in 2018 after a decisive victory over nine-term Republican incumbent John Culberson, becoming the first Democrat in more than 50 years and the first woman ever to represent TX-07. In 2020, she was re-elected over one of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s best-funded challengers. As of September 30, 2021, she had raised more than $2 million toward her re-election and has nearly $1.8 million cash on hand for her campaign.
