HOUSTON, TX—Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement in response to the Texas Legislature’s passage of new Congressional maps that change the district lines of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District:
“Since my first campaign in 2018, I have worked to bring together a broad and diverse coalition of people and communities across the greater Houston area. Together, we have worked effectively to deliver meaningful results for people in Texas’ Seventh Congressional District and our entire community.
“While I have concerns about the redistricting process and the failure of the maps to reflect the population growth of Latino, Black, and Asian American Texans over the last decade in the additional seats gained as a result of that growth, I remain committed to serving the people in Texas’ diverse and dynamic Seventh Congressional District now and in the future.
“I look forward to demonstrating my commitment to all those in the newly drawn district in the months ahead. I am ready to run, to win, and to continue to give those who live in Texas’ Seventh District the representation they deserve in the Congress of the United States.”
