Houston, TX–Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement on James Talarico’s election as the 2026 Democratic nominee for the Texas Senate.

“Congratulations to Representative James Talarico on becoming Texas’ Democratic Nominee for the United States Senate.  James is a leader who will unite our state and strengthen our country, with a vision for all Texans and all Americans and a spirit of public service that we need and deserve.  I look forward to working with him from now to November and beyond.  I also thank Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett for running an energetic campaign that mobilized and inspired voters across the state of Texas.  Democrats showed up in record numbers for this primary, and we will again in November.  I look forward to working with our Democratic nominees and with people across Harris and Fort Bend Counties to elect the leaders we deserve in 2026.”

Now in her fourth term in Congress, Fletcher was first elected to represent Texas’ Seventh Congressional District in 2018, becoming the first Democrat in more than 50 years and the first woman ever to represent TX-07.
